MOSS Watershed Festival
If you need help fostering a love of the outdoors instead of a fascination with computers, bring the young’uns out to the Bozeman Fish Technology Center for the Watershed Festival. Hosted by Montana Outdoor Science School (MOSS), this celebration of watersheds and wildlife overflows with kid-friendly opportunities for fun and outdoor education. Test the family’s animal-identification skills, study up on stream ecology, feed huge trout in the hatchery pond, and then take a guided nature hike up Drinking Horse Mountain. After eating lunch and listening to live music, head back to the booths to learn about raptors and aquatic insects, get your faces painted, and take in a quick fly-tying lesson. Wrap up the day with a perennial favorite: a duck race on Bridger Creek. All activities are free and take place outdoors, rain or shine.
