After renting equipment last winter, I was determined to spring for a full setup for the upcoming season. Luckily, K2’s products integrate seamlessly, making for a killer set-up perfect for beginners. Their BOA dials make tightening the Haven boots easy and efficient, and the heat-moldable Intuition Comfort Foam 3D liners kept my feet warm and comfortable. Initially, stepping into the Cinch Tryst bindings was a bit rough, but after getting the hang of their rear-entry system, strapping in is a breeze. To round out the package, I opted for the Spot Lite board. Its rockered tip and tail made powder-riding easier, and the twin-tip shape allowed me to push myself with some more technical switch riding. I was also a big fan of the simple but creative topsheet graphics. Board $450, Bindings $200, Boots $200; k2snowboarding.com.
