Review: Ridge Merino Wool Hyde Hoodie
Living in Bozeman means having a good mid layer around at all times. A 40-degree morning can quickly turn into a sunny afternoon, and the line between office attire and trail gear is often just a change of shoes away. The Ridge Merino Hyde Full-Zip Hoodie ($160) has become one of my favorite pieces for that reason. Made from substantial 275-GSM merino terry, it has the cozy feel of a sweatshirt but the temperature-regulating, odor-resistant performance I want from outdoor gear.
The full zip makes it easy to layer, while thumbholes, zippered hand pockets, and a helmet-compatible hood add practical touches when the day moves outside. At 13.8 ounces, it’s not the lightest layer I own, but that’s hardly the point—it’s built to provide warmth, and it does.
For those of us who run cold—whether we're answering emails or heading outside—it’s a great layer to keep close by.
