Madison Trifecta

Now that the snow is finally melting, it’s time to start training for the panoply of races around southwest Montana. This summer, the majority of the O/B staff will be competing in the Madison Trifecta, which features three races of increasing difficulty. First up is the Madison Marathon on July 28. Be ready to suck wind during your 26.2-mile trek, because this race’s claim to fame is its elevation: it’s the highest road marathon in the U.S. at a lofty 9,587 feet. Next is the Madison Duathlon on July 7, which takes you from Ennis to Virginia City via a 15-mile bike ride and a 5-mile run. And for the truly masochistic, join us for the Madison Triathlon on August 11: 450 yards of swimming in Ennis Lake, 22 miles of biking, and then 9 miles of running to get to the finish line. You’ll end up in Pony—and if you survive the race, meet us at the bar.
