Review: Patagonia Terravia Pack 14L

My favorite hikes are typically fast and light—I want to carry the essentials without feeling weighed down. That's where the 14L Terravia Pack from Patagonia comes in. Storage is minimal but thoughtfully designed, with room for an extra layer, water, snacks, and a small dog bowl. As someone who’s always worried about losing my keys, the top pocket with a key clip keeps small items secure and easy to grab once I’m back at the trailhead.

Since I’m usually carrying water for both myself and a dog, the internal reservoir and side pockets—each large enough for a full-size bottle—ensure no one goes thirsty. Trekking pole loops are a great addition, and the rain cover slips on quickly if the weather turns.

Unlike some lightweight packs, the Terravia is made from recycled nylon ripstop and is durable enough to handle brush, rock, or whatever the day brings. Best of all, the breathable shoulder straps keep the Terravia comfortable and stable—almost like I’m not carrying a pack at all, which is exactly what I’m after.

Available at Patagonia; $125.
