Northside Trail Closure

Get out your Superman cape and your magic carpet, because road construction on I-90 is cutting off access to the Story Mill Spur Trail until November 5, 2010. The trail, running between the train tracks on L Street and the Stockyard Café, is the only off-road connection between town and the East Gallatin Recreation Area trails. “The GVLT trail committee is fighting for potential Sunday openings when construction is not taking place,” notes Community Trails Program spokesman Ted Lange. At press time the committee didn't have that permission, which could create the only access allowed all summer and fall. Like most construction projects, this one won't be completed in one season: the second seasonal closing of the trail begins April 5, 2011, and runs through November 5, 2011.
