Back in the Flow
If you’ve visited Peets Hill recently, you’ve probably noticed the construction crews and utility vehicles stationed on the lawn at Bogert Park. “What are they up to now?” you might wonder. The answer is restoration. Bozeman Creek once meandered lazily through the relatively flat section of town, but residential development led to a fast-flowing stream moving in a straight line out to the East Gallatin River. Now, city officials are using funds from the Trails & Parks Bond to restore the creek to a more natural path, one that will carry it through the lawn at Bogert. This will result in less erosion while creating deeper pools and a slower flow. The project also comes with funds for some amenity upgrades and access enhancement, such as a bridge from Koch over the creek and safer access to the water itself. The project should be complete this year.
