Review: Kenetrek Women's Mountain Extreme 1000
You know it, I know it, the people of Bozeman know it; a strong boot makes or breaks the fun. Be it low-cut blisters, drenched socks, or chafing of the heels, discomfort ruins everything. When I found Kenetrek’s Women’s Mountain Extreme 1000, it looked like it could beat me up. This is a serious boot for the rugged landscapes of Montana with 2.8mm of full-grain, water-resistant leather reinforcement, high-traction Vibram soles, and breathable Thinsulate liners to keep your feet warm. Neither creek nor snow could break through the boot; I’m insulated at all times. The support of 5 mm nylon midsoles makes tough, rocky terrain feel like paved haven. So far, my ultimate favorite feature is the anti-corrosion boot hardware which swivels the leather exterior for sudden switchbacks and slot canyons, preventing wear and tear no matter what the trail throws my way. Available at kenetrek.com; $530.
