Cooler weather, dry conditions, and a svelte summer bod make a great combo for fall races. There are a few key running events every Bozemanite should consider when the thermometer starts its yearly plunge.
September
10th annual Drop and Trot—10k and 5k with as many push-ups as you can for a time deduction. havenmt.org.
October
Run Dog Run—1-mile fun run/walk with you pup, prize drawings, refreshments. Proceeds benefit local SW Montana animal shelters. bozemancanineclassic.com
Opera Bozeman run—10 miler, 5k, and 1-mile kids’ run. Runners will be serenaded at various venues by singers in costumes and Viking hats. runmt.com.
31st annual Back to Bridger Run—choose from six different distances, from 17.5 to 1.5 miles, all finishing at the base of Bridger Bowl. winddrinkers.org.
Run for the Roses—AOΠ-sponsored 10k, 5k, and fun run. active.com.
Halloween Costume Run— 1.1, 3.0, and 5.4-mile runs, prizes for best costumes. winddrinkers.org.
November
Jim Banks Turkey Trot—2.7 and 4.4-mile runs, free turkey prizes. winddrinkers.org.
Bon Appetite fun run—run any distance and go to breakfast afterwards. winddrinkers.org.
Huffing for Stuffing— 10k, 5k (timed and untimed), and a kids’ run. “Smoke the Turkey” in the 5k and win a prize. huffingforstuffing.com.
