Review: Nemo Tensor Sleeping Pad
Inflatable mats are often one of the least reliable pieces of backcountry gear—they're loud, uncomfortable, and usually start leaking after a few uses. Breaking the trend, however, is the Nemo Tensor Trail Ultralight Insulated Sleeping Pad. This durable pad has earned a permanent spot in my pack for three of the four Montana seasons.
First off, it sets up fast. Using the included pump sack, I inflated the pad in under two minutes without feeling lightheaded. Once on the ground, the Tensor feels surprisingly plush for how light it is. I'm a side-sleeper, and I usually wake up with a numb hip or a sore shoulder when camping, but this pad's comfortable, 3.5-inch cushion kept the pressure points at bay all night.
It's also conspicuously quiet—no obnoxious crinkling every time I roll over, which I'm sure my tent companions are quite thankful for—including my pup, Scout. Speaking of which, it handles her sharp claws without puncture. The pad will be in my camping box for years to come.
