Review: Sitka Radiant Sun Hoody
Come summer, I more or less live in a sun hoody, and this year it’ll be Sitka's Radiant Sun Hoody. The breathable, lightweight baselayer provides head-to-finger-tip coverage, complete with a neck guard and thumb sleeves. Like most Sitka gear, it’s cut for skinnier folks, but if that's your build then you'll appreciate the long hem, which prevents the shirt from riding up when worn under a pack. The sleeves have a little extra length as well, which makes easy to bury your hands when the wind starts blowing or the sun is blaring down. The material is soft and breathable, and it doesn’t retain moisture for long—whether that be sweat after a long trail run or water after a dip in the river. Best of all, though, it comes in a granite-camo pattern, which’ll be perfect for blending into the mountains during both bow and rifle seasons come fall. Available at sitkagear.com; $75.
