Review: Duracell 3000L Lantern

A lantern can make or break a camping trip—and if you want to really make your next trip, pick up a Duracell 3000L Lantern before you head out. This multipurpose powerhouse lights up a huge area, with a whopping 3,000 lumens, while also charging your phone and other devices. The built-in battery is itself rechargeable, and you can also add four D-cells for additional life and to give the lantern more stability.

Three white-light settings and a red-flash offer versatility, and the integrated solar panel charges the battery during the day, while you're out hiking or fishing. When you get back to camp, slap your phone on top for a convenient QI charge. A sturdy base and hanging hook make it equally useful on the picnic table or suspended from the roof of the tent. Last but not least, the rubberized base gives your fingers a good grip, so no worries about dropping the lantern on your tent-mate's head.

All in all, this is a great lantern at a great price. Well done, Duracell.

$40; available at Costco, online or in the store.
