Review: Stabil Stabilicers Run
Around here, running season never ends—at least not for fanatics, and those of us who want to stave off winter flab. But hikers don’t quit, either, and the trails get hard and slick, making cleats a necessity. Numerous products exist, and one can easily get option paralysis; but I’ve found the Stabilicers Run to be a solid choice.
They’re burlier than just about every other model, with full-sole coverage and thick, wraparound toe and heel sections reminiscent of a water shoe. This adds weight, sure, but it’s winter and you’re bulked up in clothing anyway, so a few extra ounces shouldn’t matter much.
As for the most important part—the cleats—they grab ice and compacted snow way better than YakTrax.
