Review: Sitka Mountain Jacket

With cold mornings, warm afternoons, and sudden rain and snow squalls, springtime in Montana is variable to say the least. To stay comfortable while chasing gobblers, I picked up a Sitka Mountain Jacket, a lean, quiet coat that's surprisingly warm given its light weight (just over 11 ounces). The Windstopper fabric beat back that pesky breeze and the breathable Gore-Tex membrane let the heat out when hiking around. When the clouds rolled in and unleashed their short-lived fury, the DWR coating held strong. Looks like I've found my go-to turkey coat, for both spring and fall outings. Available at the Sitka Depot, the company's brand-new showroom off N. Rouse in Bozeman; $279.
