Review: Mustang Survival Quadra Dry Suit
New to Mustang Survival’s lineup is the minimalistic Quadra Dry Suit. It’s great for those who are making the leap from casual paddlesports to cold-water boating, and only need a dry suit when absolutely essential. It gets the job done without all the bells and whistles. To shave weight without sacrificing durability, Mustang used their marine-spec BP fabric—the toughest of their waterproof, three-layer fabrics specifically designed for marine activities—coupled with 500D Cordura on the knees and butt for abrasion-resistance. (We've tried, to no avail, to find the definition of BP; we'll just assume it's something cool.) The nice thing about the dry suit being designed for entry-level boating is that the neck gasket is a thinner material, so it can be worn for hours on end without irritation. With the suit’s relaxed fit, it’s easy to put on extra layers for really cold rivers, too. This spring, I took the suit up to Alaska and put it through the wringer on glacier-fed rivers, and can confidently say that it holds up to cold water (with proper layering underneath). Thanks to Mustang, I know I’ll stay warm and dry no matter the conditions. Soon to be available at mustangsurvival.com.
