Review: Flylow Stash Bib
The Flylow Stash Bib is all that you need from an outer layer, and nothing that you don’t. The zippers are solid—completely impermeable to water, even when sitting on a soaking-wet spring chairlift. The powder gaiters are nice and tight, keeping my calves warm and dry while trudging through waist-deep snow to dig out a sled or making first tracks up a Ridge hike. The ankles are reinforced, and hold up better than past ski pants and bibs I’ve owned. The pocket placement is well-thought-out, and the zippers make it effortless to take care of business in the backcountry or at the resort (the front zip opens both ways). Additionally, side-zips allow for heat-dumping on hot days.
The fit is true to size, but if you’re between a small and a medium, size up for added mobility. The pocket size scales up, too, and the extra storage is worth it. Plus, they’re just a shell (although a PFC-free shell, at that), so you’ll need room to layer underneath. Overall, these bibs hit my sweet spot, and I’ll be wearing them for years to come.
Available at flylowgear.com; $420 normally, but on sale now for $295.
