Review: Topo Terraventure 5
Trail runners and their shoes have a special bond, especially when it's the right shoe that fits both foot and terrain perfectly. For me, that's the Terraventure ($145) by Topo, and the fifth generation is my favorite one yet.
The Terraventure series is characterized by its lower cushioning and maximized trail feel while out on the trail. The forefoot rock plate and Vibram outsole are an extremely capable combination for seriously gnarly and technical terrain. For me, though, Topo's roomy toebox is what creates the most comfortable fit I've experienced anywhere else. My feet have enough room to splay naturally while I run, which adds to the trail-feel experience instead of detracting from it, as I've experienced with some other brands.
The result is a shoe that feels precise and connected on technical terrain while still being comfortable enough for long days on the trail. It's become my go-to option for everything from after work runs to bigger mountain outings. Available at topoathletic.com.
