Review: Topo Terraventure 5

A trail runner and their shoe have a special bond, especially when they find the right one that fits their foot and terrain perfectly. For me, that's the Terraventure ($145) by Topo, and the fifth generation is my favorite one yet.

The Terraventure series is characterized by its lower cushioning and maximized trail feel while out on the trail. Its forefoot rock plate and Vibram® outsole are an extremely capable combination for seriously gnarly and technical terrain. For me, though, Topo's roomy toe box is what creates the most comfortable fit I've experienced anywhere else. My feet have enough room to splay naturally while I run, which adds to the trail-feel experience instead of feeling constricted, as they often do in some other brands.

The result is a shoe that feels precise and connected on technical terrain while still being comfortable enough for long days on the trail. It's become my go-to option for everything from after work runs to bigger mountain adventures.
