Surf and Turf
Here’s a great winter recipe that’s simple, tasty, and hearty. After a hard day of skiing or snowshoeing, come home and fire up the BBQ for this classic meal.
Ingredients:
TURF
1 12-16oz Montana natural New York beef steak
1 tablespoon olive oil
Seasoned salt and pepper to desired taste
SURF
6 each jumbo U12 wild white prawns from the USA
1 lime
1 tablespoon cilantro chopped fresh
Sea salt and pepper to desired taste
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Directions:
Preheat the BBQ to medium or medium high heat, about 350 to 375 degrees. Prep the steak by coating it in olive oil and sprinkling on salt and pepper; this will create a crisp outer layer on the steak and lock in the juicy flavor of the meat. Next, peel and clean the prawns and lay them in a shallow dish or bowl. Squeeze the lime over the shrimp and add the cilantro, then stir. Season the prawns with sea salt and pepper. By now the BBQ will be at the desired temperature and ready for action.
Start by cooking the steak for 6-8 minutes. Flip and cook the other side for 4-6 minutes depending on your desired rareness. Take the steak off the BBQ and let it rest 5-10 minutes before cutting it; this will give you a nice juicy steak full of flavor. While the steak is resting, set the shrimp on the BBQ for a couple minutes per side to obtain nice grill marks. Be careful not to overcook them. Shrimp cook quickly—remember, as soon as they are orange, they are cooked.
Add some potatoes, asparagus, or other grillable vegetable as desired, and enjoy your winter surf and turf!
