Review: NestOut Portable Fan

A portable fan, you ask, incredulously, in Montana? Yep, and here's why. Although it never gets that hot, for that long, in an open campsite, a closed-in tent is another matter altogether. More importantly, a fan does far more than just cool a pampered princess's flushed face. Allow me to explain.

The NestOut Fan-1 Portable Fan kit lives in my wall tent, where the thick canvas material can create a veritable sauna on a hot summer day. However, on spring and fall nights, it can feel like the Arctic Circle in there—in that case, the fan goes next to the woodstove, spreading life-giving heat throughout the tent. And last but not least, when the stove gets smokey, I turn the fan around and blow it all out the tent flap, precluding frantic towel-flapping, or worse, a desperate dash into the frigid outdoor air.

So yes, a fan at the 45th parallel—the Fan-1 Portable Fan, that is, powered by any one of my nifty NestOut batteries, which also power my lantern and charge my devices. Keep the cool stuff coming, NestOut.
