Review: Kuiu Northridge Rain Jacket
At last! After a half-dozen raincoats, I finally found the one I was looking for. It's the Kuiu Northridge Rain Jacket ($259) and unlike all the others, this one fits well, stretches (a little), is neither too light nor too heavy, doesn't rustle like wax paper, and has pit-zips for breathability during exertion. Which means it'll do the job during everything from casual strolls to arduous climbs. The adjustable hood cinches tight for cold wind and relentless downpours, and the wrist straps also adjust to keep out breezes and moisture—or let them in, when things warm up. Two standard side pockets and one chest pocket hold quick-access essentials. With all this, and quiet fabric that offers full freedom of movement, my search for a solid slicker is over. Instead of lacking some key element, the Northridge nails 'em all. It's as good of an all-purpose raincoat as you'll find, and I'm damn glad I found it.
