Review: Flylow Baker Perm Bib

Do you ever just sit back and watch a trend grow and grow until you’re ready to hop on board? That’s what I’ve been doing with ski bibs. They started off looking fairly useful but a bit goofy—more for resort bros than those looking for something on the technical side, like me. Well, things seem to have finally caught up in the ski bib world, so I got my hands on the Baker Perm Bib from Flylow to see what the rage is all about.

Right off, I noticed how many pockets these bibs have. So far I’ve counted seven, but I feel like I discover a new one every time I put them on. My favorite, of course, being the one right in front, which conveniently fits a 12-ounce canned beverage. Besides the pockets, the main distinction of these bibs is the use of Flylow’s Perm HD fabric. The material is designed to give the bibs more breathability than other options out there. And, for a guy that has a tendency to work up a hardy sweat while skiing or touring, the bibs are even better than advertised. Heat dissipates evenly and effectively, while still keeping the elements out. Then, when things get real hot and steamy, just open up the thigh vents to get some air flowing where you need it.

The bibs are designed to take you well beyond the confines of the ski resort. They have reinforced cuffs and knees, while not compromising on mobility with articulated knee boxes—so don’t be afraid to play rough. When things inevitably get a little nasty, a Durable Water Repellent coating and waterproof zippers keep snow on the outside, even on deep days. Take on whatever the slopes have to throw at you, and look pretty dang cool doing it with the Baker Perm Bib. $520; flylowgear.com.
