Bear Spray Recycling
Everyone knows that carrying bear spray is essential when a big grizzly sees red—but not everyone knows how to dispose of their half-used, empty, or expired cans while staying green. Now, thanks to Counter Assault and The Yellowstone Park Foundation, you can recycle any type of bear spray for free at four different locations in Bozeman (Bob Ward's, Yellowstone Gateway Sports, and Montana FWP on S. 19th), plus four other locations in the Greater Yellowstone Area, with more locations coming soon. Instead of your old bear spray ending up in a landfill, the pepper oil and propellant are safely removed and the can is recycled as high-quality aluminum. “We’re proud to play a role in this,” says Pride Johnson, president of Counter Assault. “It’s our way of giving back.” Check out bearsprayrecycling.info for the details.
