Guts and Glory
This past summer, Ian Garcia pointed his boat over Natural Bridge on the Boulder River southwest of Big Timber, dropping over 100 feet into the swirling water far below. Garcia, a Bozeman local and eldest son of the founder of Northern Lights Trading Company, came out of his boat after impact, ruining his chances of snagging the world record from his friend Tyler Bradt, whose “clean” 107-foot drop on Alexandra Falls in Canada last fall still stands. The exact distance of Garcia’s huck hasn’t been confirmed, but most estimates put it between 105 and 115 feet. Either way, that’s a serious drop, requiring some seriously big kahunas. Well done, Ian. You’ve got our vote for gutsiest move of the season.
