Review: Helinox Savanna
Occam's razor notwithstanding, there's always a better way to do something—a principle that Helinox proved over a decade ago, when they came out of nowhere with a radically different camp-chair design. Like the Yeti cooler, this innovation shook up a long-static industry and spawned an entire brood of new chair styles. Helinox has since expanded its own product family, with a host of models for a wide range of inclinations and applications.
One of the latest additions to the Helinox lineup is the Savanna, a high-backed chair that's just as simple as the Chair One (another nod to Occam), but offers support for the upper back, neck, and head. There's also a pocket (read: beer-holder) on the side, wider flanks for resting one's arms, and a sleeve for inserting a pillow. Otherwise, it's just as easy to set up, and isn't much bigger when packed.
Just like my trusty ol' Chair One—two of which I bought when it first came out, and still use on every car-camping trip—but with a bit more comfort and convenience? Sign me up.
