Review: Prime Roots Deli "Meats"
As a vegetarian for the past eight years, I’ve tried my fair share of fake meat—some good, some not worth a second bite. One thing I still miss is deli-style lunch meat, and not many companies seem to get the flavor or texture right. Prime Roots Deli Meats are a nice surprise. The product feels clean and thoughtful, and the slices actually taste good while also leaning into sustainability and breaking some of the usual stigmas around both meat and plant-based alternatives.
The founders created the company after they noticed a lack of clean deli-meat options; Prime Roots offers plant-based slices that feel more like the real deal. I tried the turkey, ham, and salami, and all three had solid texture and flavor. The salami was my favorite, partly because I’m not sure I’ve ever had a vegetarian version before, and this one delivered. With cheese and crackers, all three paired perfectly.
Prime Roots Deli Meats aren't currently sold in stores in Montana, but they can be found online at primeroots.com. And if they ever do show up at my local T&C, I'll definitely toss some in my cart.
