Review: Mocean Energy Drinks

There’s nothing like approaching deadlines to get our team in the same place and on the same page. Enter Mocean ($30 for a 12-pack) energy drinks. We recently passed a few flavors around the office for a much-needed boost while wrapping up our fall issue. Here’s what the O/B crew had to say.

At last, an energy drink that’s not going to give me diabetes—or even the jitters. The jolt is less intense, and so is the impact on one’s body: no sugar, no taurine, low in sodium. Just good, clean, green-tea caffeine, along with a handful of other natural ingredients, for a healthy midday pick-me-up. —Mike

As someone who's outgrown a single cup off coffee—and is way too reliant on cans o' chemicals to push through early mornings—I'm always on the hunt for liquid fuel that won't make me feel terrible after a few hours. Mocean's strawberry guava not only tastes like super-charged, freshly-brewed tea, but lights a fire in me in seconds. From foothills to summiting and back down to the car, I stay energized for the day ahead after just one of these bad boys. —Georgia

I'm a big fan of the back-to-natural-ingredients kick. Sure, I did my time and had my fun with Red Bull and whatever else the kids were drinking, but nowadays that's just way too much for me. I like real flavors, not the anxious, heart-pumping jitters for two hours. I'm looking for a clean, almost unnoticeable raise in my energy levels and that nice, euphoric buzz that comes with a caffeine hit—and Mocean does just that. —Adam

I tend to stay away from any caffeine that isn’t black coffee, as most energy drinks contain a long list of questionable contents. But when I saw what was in Mocean (organic green-tea caffeine and a few other natural, familiar ingredients) I was excited to try something new. The white peach flavor was subtly sweet, refreshing, and left me feeling alert without the anxiety. —Daniella
