Review: Weston Vacuum Sealer
Last fall, I wanted a vacuum sealer for wild-game processing, figuring it would help protect the meat that I worked so hard to get. In a nutshell, vacuum sealing removes the air from a package, protecting the meat from freezer-burn by slowing down oxidation (when your meat turns brown on the edges). After some research, I went with the Weston Pro-1400 11" Vacuum Sealer. With one-touch operation, this commercial-grade sealer makes quick work of getting my venison steaks, roasts, and burger meat ready for the freezer. For more delicate tasks, like packaging cookies or marinating meat, a manual mode lets me adjust the vacuum’s strength. Regardless of the use however, the durable stainless-steel housing and fan-cooled motor handles repetitive operation without overheating. At $370, it’s not the cheapest sealer on the marker, but it might be the most durable, and it’s sure to save you both time and food during hunting season and beyond. Available at westonbrands.com.
