Review: Lawson USA TitanStraps
You’ve probably seen them around town—bright-orange straps lashed around ladders, PVC pipe, and extension cords. They’re called TitanStraps, and they’re not just for construction equipment; in fact, they were designed with the outdoorsman in mind, by a local Bozemanite who saw the huge, unleashed potential in the basic design of the classic Voile ski strap. He made his own version, longer and stronger, and the result was a safer, more secure strap than any bungee on the market. That was several years ago, and now the company has three new sizes and a range of colors. The TitanStrap takes some getting used to, as we’re all accustomed to bungees and cam straps—but the more you use it, and the more of them you have, the more possibilities present themselves. I use mine for all kinds of stuff, from strapping snowshoes to my pack to securing lumber on my roof rack, and with these new sizes, my bungees will collect even more dust. TitanStraps aren’t cheap, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Available at Owenhouse Bikes. $7.50-$9.75; titanstraps.com.
