Review: Boost Oxygen
For those who suffer from intermittent hypoxia, due to a lack of acclimatization to altitude, mild sleep apnea, or over-exertion, supplemental oxygen can really make a difference. It can also increase energy, improve mental function, and enhance mood, regardless of the conditions. Boost Oxygen, maker of portable, recyclable oxygen in a variety of flavors, sent us a few canisters to try out; here's what the crew thought.
I like it. It offers a convenient, well, boost when I need quick energy during high-altitude adventures, making it a reliable companion on my more strenuous outings. —Tim
This stuff is a breath of fresh air—literally—during or after any demanding outdoor activity. I like to wind down after a run with a big gulp of Boost, especially the mint version, which sates my thirsty lungs and leaves me feeling minty fresh instead of stale, dry, and exhausted. —Fischer
I'm a minimalist, ultra-lightweight guy, so while Boost may be a bit unwieldy for me to haul into the mountains, it is fun to sit at my desk and huff oxygen like I’m taking a hit of nitrous oxide. Especially after a long day, when my energy level drops and my eyes go all fuzzy. —Jack
Hypoxia hits me hard sometimes, especially late at night or after a big climb. A quick shot or two of Boost gets me back to my normal oxygen level quickly. I keep one canister in my backpack and one by my bed. —Mike
