Review: FastFly Quick-Change Clip

There’s an undeniable romance to the classic fly-covered fishin’ hat. But style doesn’t help when the fish are rising and you can’t extract the elk-hair caddis from your cotton cap, or you mangle it in the process. Enter the FastFly Quick-Change Patch Clip ($14), a nifty little fly-holder produced right here in Bozeman. Slide it on your visor, your suspenders, your belt, your pack, your pocket—whatever, the metal clip is sturdy & secure, and the foam patch attaches with Velcro so you can switch it up based on conditions. An extra patch is included, but given the low price, you might as well pick up two full clips, as I did—one for dries and one for nymphs, with the extra patches designated for different rivers, or different times of day.
