Review: Black Diamond Zone Harness
I went climbing about 90 days last year—and almost every time, I’d wriggle out of my harness whenever there was a lull in the action. I just figured cramping was a necessary evil. But as soon as I slipped on the bright green Black Diamond Zone sport harness, I was stunned. I couldn’t even tell I was wearing it. The super-thin webbing distributes weight perfectly when you fall off your project, but what’s most important is how it feels the 98% of the time you’re not hanging in the harness: that is, when you're climbing, belaying, sitting, talking, drinking, complaining, etc. This updated model has four gear loops and thankfully doesn’t offer a haul loop—so you can’t hang your chalk bag from it with a carabiner anymore (that means you, gumby). Available at Northern Lights or online; $100.
