Review: Mammut Haldigrat Jacket
When acquainted with the Haldigrat HS Hooded Jacket, it was so light that the idea of insulation seemed out of the question—but boy was I mistaken. This hardshell is swift and flexible on a downhill full send, with a sustainable up-cycled outer nylon layer and waterproof membrane keeping me dry and warm, no matter how many times I crash and fall. There are multiple useful pockets inside and out for trail snacks and summit beers, plus breathable fabric for the underarms to keep the jacket from needing a wash after day one. The most surprising feature is the helmet-compatible hood, which is breathable while preventing yet another jerry-gap in front of my pro-skier colleagues. Available at mammut.com in three colors; $625.
