Review: Bridgedale Socks

Gone are the days of white tube socks—for most of us, at least; Grandpa's probably still shuffling down to Target every so often for a $10 six-pack. Nope, like everything else these days, performance is the name of the game. Hence the profusion of $20 socks on the market, specialized for every activity.

We're not complaining, mind you; the more you get out there and get after it, the more you appreciate quality socks. Fit, comfort, thickness, breathability, durability—all this matters when you're logging dozens of miles a week, be it hiking, trail running, hunting, or any other vigorous outdoor activity.

The challenge nowadays is finding the right sock for you, given the many choices—and here at O/B, we have the opportunity to try a whole lot of 'em. Here's what we thought of Bridgedale, a favorite foot-covering in the United Kingdom that's recently been making a name for itself here in the USA, too.

Ultralight T2 Merino Sport Low

True to size, these socks keep my feet warm in the cooler mornings, and dry when things heat up. They're my first choice when it's time to move, on the weekends and after work. —Tim

A great sock for spring running—my feet stay warm when tromping through snow, sleet, water, and any other condition that I encounter on the trail. They also don’t seem to overheat when using them on dry trails and sunny days. —Chris
