Every Saturday the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center gives updates on the current snowpack and avalanche conditions near Cooke City at the Round Lake Warming Hut. Qualified instructors will give you the information that you'll need to safely enjoy an epic day of backcountry skiing around Cooke City. Drop in for any amount of time. You can also practice using your avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe with instructors. More info here.
