Big Sky, Big Sound: White Sulphur Springs
If you're looking for the quintessential mighty small-town Montana music experience, White Sulphur Springs is your place. It's got a music festival that's almost too big for its britches, and plenty of local spots to catch some of the smaller talent in between.
Red Ants Pants Music Festival
July 23 – 26, 2026
Jackson Rd, White Sulphur Springs
Held in a cow pasture on the edge of White Sulphur Springs, Red Ants Pants is the epitome of a Montana music festival. All ages, family friendly, and camping welcome, it's four days of Americana, bluegrass, and roots music alongside a packed roster of funky events and activities that draw an incredibly diverse and eclectic crowd year after year. The 2026 lineup includes Sara Evans, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Molly Tuttle, Old 97's, Brandy Clark, Shinyribs, and dozens more across two stages. It's one of the most beloved events on Montana's summer calendar, and the kind of thing worth building a road trip around.
Notable Nearby Activities:
Montana high country is a special place. The rolling hills go on forever and the distant mountains never seem to get any closer. No matter, we're not going far to enjoy some of the nearby recreation opportunities:
See the Smith River at Fort Logan Fishing Access Site, hike in the Castle Mountains, swim in Newlan Creek Reservoir.
