Book: Funny Trail Tales
If you believe, as Bozeman resident Amy Kelley Hoitsma does, that nature and levity make good bedfellows, then pick up a copy of Funny Trail Tales (Falcon Guides, $10) and stash it in your car or backpack. From an amusing essay on camping by Dave Barry to wilderness misadventures told by Mark Twain and Patrick F. McManus, this easy-to-read, pocket-sized compilation amasses some of the funniest writers around—including Bozeman-area locals Tim Cahill and longtime O/B contributor Phil Knight. Equally enjoyable on the couch or around the campfire, this book reminds us that the outdoors are a seedbed of humor. Which is all the more reason, as Hoitsma exhorts, to “get outside, and laugh—as often as possible.”
