Brief Thoughts on Winter
Sculpted in the snow,
From whence they rose to the sky,
The wing-tips of birds.
The ermine freezes
As the winged shadow passes
Over snow on snow.
Brook trout strike flies as
Woodcocks explode from cover
With whistling white wings.
The rainbow trout leaps,
Tail-dancing on the water.
Such desperate beauty!
The brown trout holds deep
With strength beyond your knowledge.
He will test your will.
Blue-collar white fish:
Possesses a unique shape
That cannot be grasped.
