Bozeman is a winter wonderland, and there are lots of opportunities in and around town to get out and enjoy it. With the help of Bozeman’s Parks and Rec Department, here are some fun activities at your local parks this winter.

In-Town Nordic Trails

We partner with the Bridger Ski Foundation to provide some of the best in-town Nordic ski trails available anywhere in the country. These trails are located at the Lindley Park / Softball Complex and are open seven days a week during daylight hours.

Beacon Park

We will again partner with the Friends of the Gallatin Valley Avalanche Center to offer a beacon park located at the Beall Park Recreation Center. A beacon park is an area to practice avalanche rescue skills. We will have at least four transceivers buried throughout a large area for the public to find with their personal transceivers. Depending on the weather, our target opening date for the beacon park at Beall is December 29, and is available for use from 9am-8pm all winter long.

Odds & Ends

Located at Bogert, Southside, and Beall parks, four ice rinks are available free of charge this winter. Sledding is available at the Peets Hill section of Burke Park. And finally, on Sundays beginning January 13 from 4-5pm, we’re offering kayaking/open roll at the Bozeman Swim Center—just remember to BYOB (bring your own boat).
