Also called Willow Creek Reservoir, the lake fills from water running down the eastern slopes of the Tobacco Roots, near Pony. Sporadic hatches make for decent dry fly fishing but wet flies are very productive. A nice hike down into Willow Creek canyon for some small stream fly fishing is always an option too. Harrison Lake is popular with power boaters and sailors alike.

Seen from a distance, Harrison Lake is an ugly drink of water, that's for sure; but amid the desolation of this reservoir are some cool sights and features. The tail end of the lake, near the dam, where Willow Creek spills through the rugged hills to the north – that's pretty cool. And Harrison Lake is one of the few places to waterski close to Bozeman. Don't go on a summer weekend if you want peace and quiet; it's a motorhead's paradise.

Not the prettiest or most impressive lake in the area, but ideal for a group car-camping trip or a laid-back excursion with the family. There's also some good bird watching here in the spring, as it's a nesting area for larger wetland migratory birds like the sandhill crane.

I like to paddle the lake. Does anyone know the deal about the huge "plantation" house oon the North end of the lake?

What's your take?

So, what do you REALLY think?
