Veterans’ Fishing Park

Legendary fly fisherman and conservationist Bud Lilly is at it again—this time, he’s spearheading a new fishing access site on the Gallatin River designed specifically for veterans. It’s called the Veterans’ Fishing Park, and on May 16, the American Legion Posts of Bozeman, Belgrade, and Manhattan, along with the American Legion National Commander Jimmie Foster, assembled at the Logan site to recognize the contributions made by Bud and his main partner in the project, businessman Tim Crawford. The American Legion members have removed 124 tons of rubble from the site while reseeding within the boundaries of Crawford’s donated plot, laying a lush groundwork for what will soon prove an excellent, one-of-a-kind fishing access. The park honors the brave service members who have made great sacrifices for their country and community. Other contributors to the project include Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, Montana Conservation Corps, and Hopa Mountain.
