The Story Hills rise from the northeast corner of Bozeman. Though private, this property is open to the public during daylight hours. This single-track is a great in-town biking, running, or (leashed) dog-walking destination with nice views of the town and valley. The area has temporary closures at times; pay attention and be respectful.
Though this trail is open year-round, it is muddy during spring, and gets especially busy during summer and fall. Wear snowboots or cross-country skis during winter, or fatbike over light snow.
From Main St., head north on Wallace Ave. As it bends east, Wallace becomes L St. After crossing over Rocky Creek, before the road takes a hard left, turn right onto Story Mill Rd. and continue to one of several parking areas.
