Livingston Roundup Rodeo
Yippee-kayo! July 2-4, get yourself down to the Livingston Roundup Rodeo. Celebrating its 81st year, the Livingston Roundup has bragging rights as one of the oldest professional rodeos in Montana. This year top hands will compete for a total purse of over $160,000. The Livingston Chamber kicks off the three-day event at 3:00 pm on the 2nd with the Livingston Area Chamber Parade. “The big to-do about that,” Chamber Office Manager Lou Ann says, “is that it’s so sweet—it’s kind of one of those hometown parades with the Shriners in their little cars, lots of candy, farm equipment… and of course, the horses.” After the parade, grab yourself a bite to eat and then mosey on down H Street to the fairgrounds.
The rodeo convenes promptly at 8:00 pm each night, and you won’t want to miss a bit of the action. The Livingston Roundup sports some of the best rough stock in the country, giving even the toughest cowpoke a ride for his (or her) money—be it barrel racing, bareback, team roping, tie-down roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, or the crowning event of them all, the bull riding competition. A spectacular fireworks display tops off each evening, followed by music in various local establishments. Should you find yourself in town Saturday, June 26th, check out the pre-event: Livingston’s Downtown Hoedown. Dancing in the streets has never been more fun. Rodeo tickets range between $11 for general seating and $20 for reserved seating. For more information call 222-3199 or 222-2905.
