Review: Bear Tac Quick Clip Pro

We’ve all heard Ranger Rick’s spiel: “Grizzly bears can run 30 miles per hour…” Yeah, whatever. It's only after you’ve had a close encounter with a griz that you realize how fast that actually is. At a few dozen yards' distance, you’ll never have time to undo the Velcro on your hip pouch, pull the canister out, remove the safety, and fire. The folks at Bear Tac have clearly spent some time in griz country, and recognized how faulty this traditional system is. Hence, they eliminated all the unnecessary bells & whistles and came up with the Quick Clip Pro. This nifty piece of plastic allows a bear-spray canister to clip directly to the shoulder strap of a pack—no extra hardware needed. If a bear’s charging, you can pull the canister off instantly. Worst-case scenario and the bear’s actively mauling, you can fire the spray without ever removing it from the clip. It’s a gruesome thought, but a realistic scenario nonetheless, especially if you spend a lot of time hunting, shed hunting, or hiking in the thick of bear country.

When it comes to grizzlies, either you know or you don’t know, and if you’re in the latter camp, take a piece of advice from those in the know: buy a Quick Clip Pro. It might just save your life, or your friend’s life.
