Fresh Farmers

Looking to eat local and support your community farmers this season? Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a cooperative agreement between farmers and members of the program. Members pay a fee for a seasonal subscription with the farm, from which they collect fresh weekly produce or other farm products as harvest occurs. Southwest Montana has a wide array of CSA programs. Here are a few of our favorites:

Gallatin Valley Botanical
This 12-acre farm grows a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and small fruit. All produce is planted and harvested by working CSA members and interns. gallatinvalleybotanical.com.

Three Hearts Farm
Located between Bozeman and Belgrade, Three Hearts grows a variety of produce and sells all of it within a 150-mile radius of the farm. threeheartsfarm.com.

Towne’s Harvest Garden
This garden is a three-acre vegetable plot located at the MSU Horticulture Farm. It’s run by the MSU Friends of Local Foods Student Organization. townesharvest.montana.edu.

The Bozeman Co-Op has an extensive list of local CSA programs—check them out at bozo.coop.
