Nothing makes outdoor folk happier than when a treasured recreational product, long lost to the vicissitudes of time and market forces, rises once again. So it is with the Kletterwerks Flip, Dana Gleason’s iconic, old-school daypack, designed in Bozeman in the late ‘70s (and still occasionally spotted around town). The new Flip preserves the craftsmanship and simple, functional design of the original, while adding some key upgrades and reinforcements: most notably, better shoulder pads and a computer sleeve. The result is a vintage pack with a simple, elegant look, equally suited for hauling books on campus, carrying a laptop and bric-a-brac around town, or packing a rain shell and lunch to Lava Lake. Available at Schnee’s. $200; mysteryranch.com.
