When it’s time to throw your own backyard bash, remember that convenience is a key ingredient for success. From park to back lawn, portable tables and shelters can make the difference between an uncomfortable afternoon and a carefree day outdoors. Here are a couple items from Eureka that we like.

Keep the kids from complaining with the Eureka N!ergy Screen House, a roomy tent that keeps the bugs and sun at bay. The spacious 10’x12’ floor area and seven-foot ceiling mean there’s plenty of room inside for eating, sleeping, playing, or just lolling in the shade. StormShield polyester sheds rain and two separate doors allow easy access. What makes this tent interesting is the integrated E!Power system, which powers 12-volt accessories inside the tent. Plug in a fan, light, or radio and lay back, awash in your rare camping comforts. (Works with the E! Power Pak battery, sold separately for $75, which plugs into the tent and can be recharged at any AC outlet.) $220;

Eureka’s Owego Table provides a sprawling surface for food, drinks, and random items that otherwise wind up lost in the grass or blown away in the wind. The tensioned Textilene and 600D polyester surface, with four built-in cup holders, can take a beating and still remain taut. Pouches at either end are great for flatware, napkins, condiments, and other dining accoutrements. Setup is quick and easy, with nifty catch-slots that depress the locking buttons automatically—no more struggling to push the button far enough in, or pinching your fingers in the process. $70;
