For the most part, Montanans are smart and responsible hunters; but some of our gun-wielding visitors aren’t so trustworthy. Here’s how to keep your dog from getting shot at this fall.
.Stay close to your canine. The further the dog wanders, the higher the risk.
.Orange vest or bells: wild animals wear neither.
.Stay out of areas with a lot of game. More animals, more hunters.
.Stay on the trail. Neither hunters nor predators spend much time where people are.
.Leash it up. No one likes to, but when the risk is high enough, it’s a good idea.
.Dress your dog up like a game warden. No one shoots those.
