Sweet, Sweet Corn
If you like the skiing around Cooke City in the wintertime, you’ll like it even more come spring, when backcountry enthusiasts from around the state converge on Cooke for the Sweet Corn Festival, a fun-filled weekend of skiing, snowmobiling, and general mountain-town revelry. Skin, sled, or get towed up to Daisy Pass, where countless acres of untracked chutes, steep faces, open bowls, and tree-lined gullies await. Conditions permitting, at day’s end you can ski all the way back into town, popping out of your bindings at the door of the Miner’s Saloon for a well-deserved burger and beer. There’s no event website, so come March, keep an eye out for posters and write-ups in local publications.
