Review: Oboz Sawtooth X Pro Mid GTX Waterproof

After summiting Kilimanjaro, I donated my Oboz boots to one of the porters. The boots still had plenty of life left in them, and truthfully, part of the reason I gave them up was so that I didn't have to lug them around on the rest of my travels. I like to imagine they've made it back up to the roof of Africa a few more times since. Regardless, upon my return to Montana, I needed a new pair of Oboz, and I wanted to get the best they had to offer.

The Sawtooth X Pro Mid GTX Waterproof is one of their newest boots, designed for hikers who demand the most out of a boot when it comes to performance, comfort, and yes, even a bit of style. The Sawtooth comes with the best materials money can buy, like GORE-TEX waterproofing, Vibram Megagrip outsoles, and high-quality, full-grain leather, while still coming in at an insanely reasonable price point compared to other high-end footwear on the market.

When I'm out in the backcountry, I often like to move quickly and cover ground, which can be a recipe for injuries and sore feet when you mix in a fully loaded backpack. Despite that, I always feel supported and well balanced When I lace up in my Sawtooth X Pro Mid GTXs, which give me the protection, comfort, and stability I need when crushing technical hikes, whether I'm out for the day or weeks at a time. Available at obozfootwear.com; $220.
