Taylor Reicks, DPT, COMT, OCS

Doctor of Physical Therapy / Certified Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist / Orthopedic Clinical Specialist
Taylor Reicks completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2017 at Des Moines University in Iowa where he has lived most of his life. After graduation, Taylor moved to Tacoma, Washington for a few years where he successfully passed the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist examination after several long months of intensive studying and coursework. He then joined a local Orthopedic and Sports Residency Program as a faculty member with a focus on teaching manual therapy and strength training in the lower extremities. Throughout his time in Washington state, Taylor treated a wide variety of orthopedic conditions and spent his time building up his therapy “tool-box” to provide individualized treatment options for his patients including Dry Needling Certification, Washington State Spinal Manipulation Endorsement, and Blood Flow Restriction Training Certification. Taylor earned his certification in orthopedic manual therapy, (COMT) from NAIOMT (North American Institue of Orthopedic Manual Therapy) in 2023. After a few years in Washington, Taylor and his family wanted to move closer to home and stumbled upon Bozeman when looking for a mix of the mountain sports they love and the mid-west feel they grew up with, where they settled down to start their family in August of 2020. Taylor prides himself in his ability to treat a wide variety of orthopedic conditions and body areas throughout the spine and extremities while also having an interest in treating sports and fitness athletes such as cross-fitters. He believes that an active lifestyle is important throughout the lifespan whether it’s a young high school football player or an 85-year-old grandparent who needs the strength to carry their groceries or grandchild up and down the stairs. He is a firm believer that Physical Therapists can play a major role in helping reduce emergency room visits along with unnecessary imaging costs for patients by supporting a physical therapy visit first after an orthopedic injury for an evaluation and treatment plan. Not only does this save the patient time and money, but it can also offload the ever-growing demand on other healthcare providers. Outside of the clinic, Taylor enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, daughter, and two dogs hunting, rock climbing, trail running, and hiking throughout the Gallatin Valley and Southwest Montana.

Britnee Harper, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist
My focus is treatment-based Massage Therapy and Structural Integration to relieve pain and bring alignment into the body. My passion for Massage Therapy began about 10 years ago when I experienced the connection between yoga and bodywork as an alternative to pain relief. Throughout my career, I have been able to travel, learn from incredible people and follow my other passions. I lived in Big Sky, where I worked as a Massage Therapist at a Spa and was able to snowboard almost every day. Then, I lived in Jackson, WY., where I worked with a Rolfer that taught me the techniques and benefits of fascial manipulation and structural integration. After that, I moved to Byron Bay, Australia, where I learned to surf and worked in an energy healing kinesiology clinic providing a more treatment-oriented massage. After a year in Australia, the mountains called to me and I moved to Wanaka, New Zealand snowboarding and working in a sports clinic specializing in treating competitive road bikers and swimmers. This is where I learned specialized techniques for treating injuries in the shoulder girdle and I was able to take my skills to the next level. The last stop was Japan, where I snowboarded the most snow I’ve ever seen and worked in a Physio clinic treating skiers. Now, my partner and I have since started a family, and have moved back to Bozeman. I love sharing my love and commitment to helping people relieve pain in a more natural way with massage.

I decided to pursue massage therapy after experiencing the benefits first-hand. I had some crippling injuries from working manual labor and powerlifting in my early and mid-20’s. After effective massage treatment sessions, I was on my way to full range of movement and being pain-free. This was a turning point for me. I wanted to help people who were having their life impaired by pain and mobility issues like I had been. By taking a scientific and evidence-based approach I have been able to help my clients reduce their pain and help prevent further injury. I utilize Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, MFR (also known as Myofascial Release), Neuromuscular Therapy, Kinesio Taping and MET (Muscle Energy Technique).

Yes. The choice of where you receive therapy is always yours. While the majority of our patients come to us by physician referral/recommendation, many clients request to see us due to our strong clinical reputation in the community.

Because of our proven rehabilitation track record, local physicians have come to depend on Excel PT’s outstanding outcomes when they send their patients to our clinics. While many patients come to Excel PT through the physician channel, most of our patient’s health insurance companies provide for direct access to physical therapy (no referral required). We are happy to bill your private insurance company, including Auto, Medicare and Workman’s Compensation insurance.

Since 1987, Montana state law provides for direct access to physical therapy where Physical Therapy evaluation and treatment procedures may be performed by a licensed Physical Therapist without a doctor’s referral. However, there are still a few insurance companies that may require a Physical Therapy referral prior to your appointment with our office in order to process claims. Please check with your insurance company to see if they have this policy requirement. Or call us, and our friendly front office team can help you determine your physical therapy policy benefits.

We accept all types of private insurance. We are preferred providers for Allegiance, Assurant, BCBS (Blue Cross/Blue Shield), Cigna, EBMS, InterWest Health, First Choice/Health InfoNet, Medicare, MHS, MultiPlan, MUS, MUST, PacificSource, New West Medicare, United Healthcare and certified Tricare providers. If you don’t see your insurance payer listed above, please call us so our friendly front office team can help verify our participation as we are able to access multiple networks like MultiPlan, InterWest, First Choice/Health InfoNet among others. We are also pleased to accept Workman’s Compensation and Motor Vehicle insurance as well.

At Excel PT, you are a highly-valued client. We appreciate your business, and we are committed to providing you with the highest level of patient care and customer service. Part of our customer service involves helping patients navigate the complicated world of health insurance. Our friendly front office team will contact your insurance company and help you understand what your deductible may be (if applicable), and if you have co-payments and/or co-insurance. Our office collects commercial insurance patient responsibility balances at the time of service so that our patients can more easily financially plan for their physical therapy treatments. Patient responsibility portions (if applicable) include deductible, co-payments, co-insurance and supply items. We gladly bill insurance companies as a courtesy to our patients, and we routinely work with Medicare, Workman’s Compensation, Auto Insurance companies with med-pay.

We offer Prompt Pay discounts (paid at the time of service) for patients who do not have insurance and our offices are CareCredit Providers. CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that allows you to split your patient responsibility balance over a 6-month term with no interest for balances of $200 or more. If you have questions regarding payment, please contact our office before your scheduled appointment.

After discharge from treatment, patients are always welcome to contact their physical therapist with any follow-up treatment questions or concerns. Tune-up and annual check-up appointments are available to help clients stay on track with their goals.

Your therapist will conduct an evaluation of your condition lasting between 45-90 minutes. The evaluation is necessary to create a program designed specifically to address your needs for maximum recovery.

– Referral slip from your medical doctor
– Your medical insurance card
– Your ID
– If you are getting therapy as a result of a worker’s compensation claim or an automobile accident, you will also need to bring your claim information, including claim number.

Please arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to fill out any necessary paperwork.

Please wear athletic clothing and shoes that allow you to move easily. For our female patients with a neck, shoulder or spine diagnosis, please wear or bring a sports bra or bathing suit top to your appointments. Otherwise, a treatment gown will be available for your use. We also have exercise shorts available for both male and female patients.

We have private treatment rooms and restrooms that you can use to change into your athletic clothes so that you don’t have to travel in clothes that may be chilly when it’s cold outside.

Each visit will last 45– 90 minutes on average. Times vary due to the treatment and exercises being performed.

You and your physical therapist (in conjunction with your physician) will determine a treatment plan for your particular goals. Most patients are typically seen two to three times per week for a treatment plan. The best way to ensure that you reach your health and fitness goals is for you to remain committed to your treatment appointment schedule and home exercise program.

Annual Wellness, Injury or Performance Check-up: It is a great idea to see your physical therapist annually for a physical therapy exam to identify any potential injury prevention opportunities and to maintain the functionality of musculoskeletal systems. Physical therapists have the education, experience, and expertise necessary to provide a wellness, injury or performance screen to allow tracking of the patient’s needs for a healthy, pain-free, fully-functioning life.

Our goal is to make sure to we are available for our patients and anyone else who needs us at this time while options remain limited. We are offering virtual physical therapy appointments for those who are unable to come into the Bozeman or Manhattan clinics.

Virtual Physical Therapy Appointments  Our physical therapy providers are offering secure and HIPAA-compliant virtual physical appointments for anyone not able to attend in-clinic appointments. It’s as simple as clicking on an email link from us.

Call our Bozeman office at 406-556-0562 or by email at info@excelptmt.com to schedule a virtual PT visit. We are presently offering discounted self-pay pricing of $70 per virtual visit pricing for anyone without payer coverage during the COVID-19 period. Typical virtual visits are about 30-45 minutes depending on your specific need and treatment plan. We have a secure payment link easily accessible from our website to take care of payment arrangements for these visits.

Medicare calls these “e-visits” and is covering them for established patients only during the COVID-19 period. BCBS is offering coverage for virtual PT appointments for new and established patients and is waiving co-pays and deductible cost-sharing requirements as well during this time. We are closely monitoring all payer activity and responses for telehealth visit coverage on a daily basis. Please call your insurance company if you have questions for virtual (telehealth) physical therapy visit coverage or feel free to call our office at 406-556-0562.

How Does a Virtual PT Visit Work? A virtual pt visit is a secure HIPAA compliant video conference appointment where our front office or pt provider will email you a waiting room link to click on and join the appointment at your scheduled time from your favorite device, computer, phone or tablet. You are already dressed in easy to move or exercise clothing and your office or household does not have Netflix or similar live streaming apps open or in use. Our front office team will email you the easy instructions and link to join your appointment with your PT provider.

We also use SwitchBack Health to deliver and manage your home physical therapy exercise program during our virtual pt visit just like we do for in-clinic appointments. Switchback Health is a web-based application designed to help ensure you are doing your prescribed exercises correctly and with the correct frequency and technique designed by your physical therapist. See our Switchback FAQ to learn more about this secure, cloud-based tool our pt provider use for our in-clinic and virtual pt visits. Our team will set you up with your free Switchback account set up and email you a link as well if you and your provider choose to use this tool.

Why are physical therapy appointments, in-clinic or virtual, are valuable now and beyond this pandemic situation?:

  • Physical therapy is more effective, less invasive and less expensive than traditional health care treatment options.
  • Patients who get physical therapy right away are less likely to need specialist appointments, surgery, MRIs, and other expensive diagnostic procedures. And they spend less, an average of $4,500 less over the course of care.
  • Physical therapy patients are less likely to need prescription pain killers.
  • The Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine found that PT patients are 35% less likely to be prescribed opioids, even if they only come for one visit. Since opioids are highly addictive and don’t treat pain – they only mask it.
  • Physical therapy care can reduce the number of patients that are going to doctor’s offices and to the hospital for ER visits for musculoskeletal ailments. Crucial at this time to help reduce exposure to the coronavirus and so that our community healthcare providers are free to help those in the most need of COVID-19 treatment.

We are here for you! As always, your physical therapist is available through email or phone and we encourage you to communicate with them regarding your care. Our PT team is able to schedule a virtual visit for you directly as well. Reach out to our front office team with any questions at info@excelptmt.com too or to schedule a virtual pt visit too.

Our leadership team continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. Our promise to you is to keep a safe and clean environment for those who are in need of our services the most. We understand this is a very difficult time for everyone.

Our Bozeman clinic is OPEN in agreement with theMarch 24th guidanceof the MT Office of the Governor. Physical Therapy is considered an essential critical infrastructure. As a healthcare facility, we are currently one of the few options for those who are suffering due to cancelled surgeries, chronic pain, and other issues during this unprecedented time where healthcare has suddenly become a precious commodity.

In the state of Montana, we have direct access, which means a patient can be treated without needing a doctor’s prescription. For insurance reimbursement, there are several payers who have not yet acknowledged this state law: EBMS, several Allegiance employer-based plans, some out of state BCBS plans. Call our front office team and we can check your plan for you.

Our goal is to make sure to we are available for our patients and anyone else who needs us at this time while options remain limited. We are offering virtual physical therapy appointments for those who are unable to come into the Bozeman or Manhattan clinics.

We have implemented COVID-19 policies to further increase precautions and prevention All policies apply to both staff, patients and anyone entering our facility. Thank you to all for your patience and accommodation with these polices.

We are screening every patient who enters our Bozeman clinic with the following 5 questions:

  • Are you currently sick for any reason, esp. cold, cough, fever and taking fever-reducing medications?
  • Did you bring a visitor with you?
  • Have you been in contact with anyone with who has tested positive for COVID-19?
  • Have you traveled recently to a CDC-designated US community spread state?(click the + sign to expand the States’s community spread status)
  • Have you recently traveled to a CDC-designated Warning Level 3 country?

If anyone answers, Yes to any of the above 5 questions at check-in, we reschedule their clinic appointment with a virtual PT visit option, or reschedule their in-clinic appointment as needed, or after a 14-day period, or once any illness symptoms are full resolved.

Here are our other COVID-19 policies in place for our staff and patients:

  1. If you are sick for any reason right now, with a fever, cough or are sneezing, then we ask you to not return for in-clinic appointments until your symptoms fully resolve and you are not taking any fever-reducing medications. Virtual physical therapy appointments are available to you.
  2. If you travel to high-risk regions per the CDC, inside the US with any specified community transmission or outside of the US that have a Level 3 Travel Health Notice (widespread, ongoing transmission), please postpone attending in-clinic appointments until 14 days after your return date to  the Gallatin Valley.  This requested 14-day waiting period exists for symptom-free patients. Virtual physical therapy appointments are available to you.
  3. Visitors are not allowed to attend in-clinic appointments with any patient (unless the patient is a minor). Please leave friends and/or family members at home! No one is allowed in the waiting room other than our scheduled patient. Your visit will be rescheduled if you have brought someone to your appointment or the visitor will be asked to wait in a vehicle in the parking lot or to make other arrangements to be picked up or return to another location. If a patient is a minor, the only allowed visitor is a guardian and the 5 question policy is in place for both the minor and the guardian.
  4. We already have an existing best practice of frequent hand and wrist hygiene before and after each patient encounter, sanitizing and disinfection of equipment, all common areas, and hard surfaces several times per day throughout both our Bozeman and Manhattan clinic locations. We have increased our vigilance in these efforts for all staff members and following CDC guidelines and are using CDC- specified cleaning products.
  5. We have reduced our patient and staff levels in our Bozeman clinic on both our main and loft levels to practice social distancing guidelines. Our providers who are in the clinic are working a staggered work schedule to provide for social distancing guidelines.
  6. We have chosen to temporarily close our Manhattan clinic from 3/24 to 4/3 to provide for additional social distancing measures. We will make the decision to re-open our Manhattan clinic on a week by week basis as the COVID-19 situation resolves. Re-opening updates will be posted to our Manhattan office Facebook page.

We are offering discounted self-pay pricing of $70 per virtual visit pricing for anyone without payer coverage. Typical virtual visits are about 30-45 minutes depending on your specific need and treatment plan. We have a secure payment link easily accessible from our website to take care of payment arrangements for these visits.

Medicare calls these “e-visits” and is covering them for established patients only at this time. BCBS is offering coverage for virtual PT appointments for new and established patients and is waiving co-pays and deductible cost-sharing requirements.

Our front office team will email you the easy instructions and link for you to join your appointment with your PT provider.

We completely understand that some clients may have a fear of physical therapy treatment because they have never experienced it before. It’s completely understandable to have reservations when you may experience pain or there’s an unknown outcome.
We will meet you where you are in your care journey.
Everyone from our front office team to each physical therapist here at Excel Physical Therapy also understands this possible concern. Please feel free to share your concerns and communicate with your physical therapist if you are nervous or need more time and explanation about your treatment plan.
We are happy to provide you with the needed information to help you feel better about your treatment issue, diagnosis and your treatment plan of care.
We strive to be good listeners too. Every member of the Excel Physical Therapy team is here to help you. Please let us know how we can best help you.

We offer Prompt Pay discounts for patients who do not have insurance or for visits not covered by your insurance carrier. To take advantage of a prompt pay discount, appointments are paid at the time of service in full and claims cannot be billed to your insurance carrier at a later date. Prompt pay appointments are also available to clients who are seeking a wellness/preventative physical therapy check-up where no medical diagnosis is present. Supply items issued during an appointment are not included in prompt pay discounts.

Excel Physical Therapy is a CareCredit Provider practice. We offer a 6-month term with no interest for patient responsibility balances of $200 or more with the CareCredit program. You can apply at CareCredit.com for an instant credit decision to see if this option can be helpful for you. Once your balance reaches $200 with our office, we transfer the balance to your CareCredit account. If you have questions regarding payment, please contact our office before your scheduled appointment.

At Excel Physical Therapy, your Bike Fitting is performed by a medical professional. Our specialty trained physical therapists go beyond the typical bike fit that you receive at most bike shops. In addition, we address the root cause of pain and dysfunction that you may be experiencing as the result of your current cycling position, previous muscle and joint injuries, or other movement abnormalities. Often, your medical insurance will cover bike fitting as related to physical therapy services. Our physical therapists have the necessary certifications and training to get you moving towards pain-free cycling.

The Excel Physical Therapy Professional Bike Fitting will help you eliminate pain and improve cycling performance. Our bike fitting is beneficial to cyclists of all levels. Whether you are a cat 2 racer or a novice rider, a bike fitting will improve your overall experience cycling. For example, small misalignments in seat height and pedal or cleat position can cause knee pain. Moving the seat up or down and the foot forward or backward (through the cleat on the bottom of the shoe) optimizes the power transfer from the leg into the crank arm and decreases painful stress in the knee, resulting in a more enjoyable and efficient ride.

In the case that you don’t have medical insurance to cover some or all of the cost of a Bike Fitting, we offer cash pay rates. The fee is $250 for the first 90 minute visit and $105.00 for the second 45 minute visit. Your typical Bike Fitting is complete in 2 visits for a total of $355 dollars. However, some Bike Fittings will take less or more visits, based on specific client needs.

Your medical insurance will typically cover physical therapy pertaining to a medical diagnosis such as neck pain, low back pain, knee tendonitis, etc. If you are in pain while cycling, then we are usually able to successfully bill your medical insurance for physical therapy services related to altering the fit of your bike and teaching you exercises. We also offer bike fitting services on a prompt pay/cash pay basis when no medical diagnosis is present or if you have no medical insurance.

“I've been working with Todd Bushman for the last few months regarding a few different issues I've been having. I really appreciate his approach to diagnosing my problems. He keeps an open mind and works hard to pinpoint what it is that's really going on. I've already had 2 of the issues resolve that I've seen him for, and we are currently working on the third. I really enjoy working with him and appreciate his hard work and tenacity to figure out what's wrong and see that I do what I need to get it worked out. Thanks so much for all the help, Todd!” -Dustin R.

"Just when I thought that no one and nothing could help me take away the numbness in my fingers and neck pain, enter David Coletta and his treatment plan for me. A combination of dry needling, manipulation and mobilization treatments and several exercises have increased my range of motion and eliminated my neck pain and finger tingling. I couldn't believe this could actually work but it truly has. All the good things I've heard about David are true--he really is a master! Thank you to this entire group of great people at Excel PT for helping me feel much better." --Bozeman neck patient

I highly recommend them to anyone who has physical health challenges and need the best care possible." --J.D., Bozeman Patient

Working with Excel physical therapists was time well spent. I originally went to David after suffering a head and neck injury. David was able to restore my full-range of motion after four visits. In conjunction with my head and neck issues, I had been dealing with some long-term low back and SI joint issues. David worked with me using spinal manipulation and exercises to alleviate my pain and allow me to get a good night’s sleep.”-Bozeman Patient

"I am training for a triathlon which involves lots and lots of hours on a time trial bike. I went to Jason to get my bike fit dialed in. He not only helped me get more aero but helped make it more comfortable. Secondly, he helped me with alignment with me feet and knees. The muscular pain I was having last year from doing the long rides in my back and glutes has not re-appeared this year. Thanks Jason. I am feeling faster and fitter because of the Professional Bike Fitting." -Bozeman Patient

Thank you to our patients who share their success stories with us.  The following update is from a Bozeman patient of ours who recently completed rehab with Jason following knee surgery.    After her surgery and rehab, she completed demanding hikes in the Highland Mary Lakes and Grand Turk regions in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado.  She writes to Jason "...Again, my thanks for your persistence and ability to prescribe what was needed."    Congratulations to D.H. for taking on these demanding long-distance hikes with elevations up to 12,400 feet!  May her inspiring endeavor be an inspiration to others and especially, you, as well!
